  3. Translate into French the following text explaining the advantages of a car free day:
This is an opportunity to reconnect with the city, exploring new neighborhoods, and to take advantage of transportation choices. Going car free will give you the opportunity to join your neighbors from all over the city who are signing up to leave their cars at home and travel to work by train, bus, bicycle, walking, roller-blading, etc.

I like it(them) very much/a lot. It is (they are) very useful.

How often is it used and for what reasons?
My dad uses it to go to work every day. We go shopping at the supermarket once a week, so we need the car to transport all the groceries. The whole family uses it to go on holiday twice a year (to the beach in Summer, and the mountains in Winter).

List the advantages and inconveniences of a family car.
It is useful because you can use it to go anywhere, anytime. You can transport lots of things (shopping, boxes when helping someone move home, all the stuff we take on holiday, etc. It can transport up to seven people, so that can be very useful if I have a match for example and we have to take members of my team. There are no real inconveniences, apart from the cost of diesel and upkeep. Also, when we go into the big city, being stuck in a traffic jam is really boring and finding a parking space is sometimes difficult.

Could you and the members of your family use alternative means of transport?
I already use the bus to go to school. I suppose we could use the train and then the tramway or bus when we want to go into town, but then we would not be free to come back when we wanted to (because of the train times). Plus, if all the family goes, it works out cheaper to take the car (plus we always buy lots of stuff).

Would your family make savings by using public transport rather than a car?
I suppose my dad could use public transport to get to work, but sometimes he needs the car during the day for meetings which are sometimes far away. I think if we lived in Paris or some very big city, we would probably have no choice but to use public transport. As we are a big family, and we live in a small town, it is more practical to use a car (even if it is not good because of the pollution).
