ReplyDeleteIt is to commemorate the creation of the “CNR” (which was set up on the 27th May 1943).
Who was Jean Moulin?
He was sent by General de Gaulle to France to unify and organize the numerous Résistance mouvements.
What were the Résistance and the "CNR"?
The undercover fighters that fought the Vichy regime and the German occupation of France. The Conseil National de la Résistance was the organization that Jean Moulin set up to coordinate the efforts at liberating France.
What values did the "CNR" defend?
They fought for freedom, solidarity, peace, and the respect of human dignity and rights.
Why do you think it is a good (or not a good) thing that this national day has been created?
